Floor Me!

(There's a light!)
Things are gearing back up in the home improvement department at the Casablanca Dear Readers!
It looks as if work on the bathroom is finally picking up speed, Friend Jeremiah and I framed the window with 1"x4"'s and that set everything into motion!
I have dreamed and dreaded this step of the bathroom buying and getting the tile laid...
The first quote from Lowes was an ASTOUNDING $1800.00... A tile setter quoted me $700-$900 for the job (and couldn't get to it until after Christmas) BUT I think our ship has come in with a handy man (the same one that installed the doors) Friend Kyle with an estimate of $300! AND Kyle thinks he can get the job done BEFORE the Costume Ball!
As an added bonus, I stumbled across a movie called "Imitation of Life"  starring Lana Turner made in 1959. In the beginning of the movie, Turner and he daughter live in a cold water flat with the exact same tile in the kitchen! On the back splash and on the floor!
(The floor could use a good scrubbing!)
It's so cool to see this "stock" tile in an every day setting back in 1959. Judging by the leg of the refrigerator, I'd say the tile was laid as early as the 1920's. It's great to see the exact tile I want in, with dark (provably dirt in the picture above) grout. I can't wait for it to be installed!

Here's hoping it all goes smoothly!

Glad you found a friend to help out with the tile. It will look great, no doubt when it goes in.
You have a keen eye to get a glimpse of the tile in action!
Hope it's smooth sailing for you...
can't wait to see it at the Casablanca
