"The Nicest Kids In Town"

(I'll explain why a person has been cut out later)

I do like to think that my friends who frequent the Casablanca really are "The Nicest Kids in Town" haha because I build them up and make them behave!  That's only about half of us pictured, but don't we look sharp?   You see in high school I was part of the theater forensics team, and our Director Mrs Dillard had a set of rules for the kids in the program. (nothing extreme) you had to be shaved, dress nice at tournaments,  be polished, polite, and punctual.  So that way if we made the news paper we'd be "the nicest kids in town". Its really rather funny, because in the Broadway show "Hairspray"  there is a musical number of the same title that is STRANGELY like our group. (In the show these kids are pretty much the Mouseketeers  of dancing in 1960's Baltimore.)   Well our group was pretty much the same in the thriving metropolis that is Iowa Park TX.

I love the lyrics to this song, I fall under the "Can't tell a verb from a noun, but were the nicest kids in town" category!

Well I use the same principals out  at the Casablanca, (which the more I think about it is slowly becoming the 'Dogpatch Country Club'....)  At least when we have company other than ourselves.   That doesn't mean were heithans when its just us haha but we know how to act.  9 times out of 10 You have to be invited to the Casablanca by a "member"  to come and hang out. One instance of that 10th person who just invited themselves is in that first picture.....  People have been "blackballed" from the lake... and that's really sad... We dont have a ton of rules, but just  a few that we will NOT bend...

1. No Sex ....( I don't have room for a baby crib in the house...)

2. Respect the house. (This is my stuff, and no it is not 'wicked funny' when you break crap)

3. Do NOT spin records backwards. ( I have a RECORD PLAYER, no where on its casing does it say turn  table beat box... spin it backwards and you'll provably end up with a sore wrist... or maybe sleeping with the fishes?...Just saying...

4 If you smoke do it in the lounge or go outside. (Please, Put your butts in the fire pit NOT THE YARD)

5. (and quite possibly the most important) Don't make an ass out of yourself....

See that's not to much to ask is it?
Im proud of my people,  in the last 5 years we've only had a hand full of people who could play buy these rules, and  so they don't come anymore. Simple as that.

Oh well, their loss...

Hey Mick, I'm staring at that silver patio funiture set in the lower right hand corner of the pic... what old brand is that? i LOVE the design on the chairs.

Keith, I actually have no idea what brand they are! I knwo they were made at the Texas Iorn works in Austin in 1929. Those chairs came from the Baker Hotel In Mineral Wells and MUST have cost a pretty penny back in the day because they are like no other lawn chairs!

Good old fashioned etiquette! I love it! (If I came over, I wouldn't break your stuff and I'm too old to even think about buying a crib!)

No sex at the drive in? I guess if you aren't in your car, it's not nice to fall out under that cute silver table set in front of God and everybody! We have rules at my house, too! Good for you and the nicest kids in town!

That's great! I admire you for not turning your cute lil cabin into an Animal House!!If you're like me, you take your stuff seriously. No that doesn't mean I like stuff better than people, but, respecting your home is important?! Good for you! ZSM
