Goodwill, OH How you bend my wallet!

Today I just couldn't resist,

As we always do after class I headed over to Goodwill with my friend Kristen. Both of us extremely broke!  So as I walk in I think to myself "ok nothing over a dollar"...

(You cant see it but on that mirror it says "Thank you for being a friend"  when this was spotted we both broke out into the 'Golden Girls' theme song, and I broke off into my "Blanche Deburoe" impression !

Back to the thrifting, looking for things in my $1 range I spotted an ashtray that I picked up and put in our basket (cuz the cool shape and turquoise colors). I was doing very well, my will power was strong!... And Then I looked down and saw this record rack with a note "$9.99 as is" It had over 100 records in it! I mean really people, how could I not?! Kristen pointed out that the records I didn't keep could go toward the record bowl industry (you see why we keep Goodwill in business ).

The Scotch Tape can I found in the garage yesterday, but had in the dishwasher when I did the post.

This Is the Ashtray I like so much.

As soon as I picked it up, with out seeing the 'King Triton/ Neptune' I said to Kristen "This is from a cruise ship". She asked "How do you know?" I said "I'm not sure, but I know that's what its from" We got back to the College computer lab and a few clicks later we found that I was right!...as always  haha!

Its from one of the "White/ Flag ships" of the Matson Cruise Line Company. (Specializing in South Pacific Cruises)
This style of ashtray was on board from 1956 -1963. It came from a suite on one of the following ships either "The Matsonia", "The Monterey", "The Lurline", or "The Mariposa".  I cant help but think of how that ashtray sat on a coffee table in a stateroom. All the families that went on vacation, how many honeymooners smoked out on deck and listening to Band music in the still moonlight. (what can I say I like to fantasize!)
This is only feeding the fact that Im PROVABLY going to start collecting ashtrays now... I may make a display out of them in "The Turquoise Room" as it is being called now. Not gonna lie, It sounds a lot classier than "the den".

These two records were in the 100 that were in the rack "Limbo Rock" and "Peppermint Twist"  were going to have some great music at our summer party! "Live from the Turquoise Room at the Fabulous Casablanca Hotel  & Resort...."

Very cool finds!

I like to collect darn near everything, even the mid-century goodies that go in drawers and desks and kitchen cabinets, so I have a lot of little things like the Scotch tin.

When I get this place all done (please vintage gods, give me strength to do it this year ha ha ha) I will encourage visiting guests and friends to look in the drawers and cabinets too lol...

You have such an awesome Goodwill. I think I'll go to OURS today and take a picture to show how pitiful it is. Although if you're on the hunt for size 12 smelly shoes you can totally hit the jackpot there. BTW, you can take the shotgun off your "to do" list. I promise I won't steal any of your goodies (and you don't see my fingers crossed behind my back, either).
