Eye Candy...A Very LONG picture Post.

As you may or may no know, the Thursday before last I loaded up with my dad and sister and we headed to the "Pate" Swap meet at Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas.  As Promised here are pictures of things I saw, might own, pine for, or were just way to cool no to take a picture of!
Pegasus is the first thing you see in the early morning light! I would LOVE to have one of these neon babies flying high above the gravel pit....however it would take a LOT of record dishes to pay for this guy!Once you walk through the gate, its Cars, Parts, Junk, Vintage stuff as far as the eye can see!
(This Buick was fantastic!)

(This car reminded me of Gumby's)
(Very cool Train/grills !)
(Ah Texans, we are a 'grilling' people....)
(Look at the light fixture on the table!)
(Coke, Dr Pepper, and Pepsi boxes in abundance...)
(each one more  rare and exspeinsive than the last *please not heavy sarcasm*)
When I saw that Ferris wheel cart I wanted it for the Casablanca! However $700 i'll pass)
(This Ford made me think of MaryDeluxe for some reason... then I got closer)
( *smiles* 'Damn I'm Good'....)

('For those who think young'...and absolutely cant get a COKE anyplace else...)
 (My sister Mable... )
(Me-owwwwwww, look at them tail lights!)
("This my idiot sister, is Sea foam...")
(when I spotted this I thought of  Vintage Chris! My sister and I both broke out into chorus' of "The Age of Aquarius")
( to dad "See TOLD YOU all this 'crap' was making a comeback ...")
("This My idiot sister is TURQUOISE...")
( Hands down my favorite car at the whole place, next year I am going to print out a BUNCH of our Casablanca Postcards, and give them to these people in hopes they might show up at the CH&R in their vintage cars.)
(LOVED these but for $75 I could make them...)
( "Ah... my evil lawn chair nemesis we meet again... You think your 'powder coating' and high prices are superior to my good old fashion elbow grease?! HAH you are wrong sir... and over priced.".)
( A POX ON YOUR INDUSTRIAL RESTORED LAWN FURNITURE & HIGH PRICES! )

That was about it For the Swap meet, It was every BIT of a 10 mile walk, but I saw some pretty cool stuff (this is just the condensed version)  $500 for a lawn chair HA! I will take my $30 fixer upper anyday...

Musical Madness, Bench Colors, & A Broken Stack-o-matic...

Dear readers,

IT'S BEEN ONE HELL OF A DAY.....

Iv been done with Jesus Christ Superstar for almost a month now,  since I simply cannot go without my "theatrical fix" as it were, I have auditioned for the next musical "Pirates Of Penzance"  (Yet again Jumping into a show I know NOTHING about! Haha)  I can tell you it was written in the 1800's and was a cutting edge operetta then.  I am almost iffy about posting this, but I'm hoping to earn the part of "Major General" I have always wanted to sing his title song!

However If I don't win the part I wont be upset! This show is an all out RIOT! So If not the Major General I hope I get cast in the Pirate Chorus (this next clip 'With Cat like tread' is HYSTERICAL!)

No matter what part I get the show is going to be great! The Guy who directed Jesus Christ Superstar is also the director for this show. The kid who played Jesus is also trying out for the Pirate King in this show. It was funny at auditions, the director asked him "What makes you think you can be a Pirate King?"  and with out missing a beat Jonathan (Jesus) said "Well I was King of the Jews...." ! It was great!

Now onto the latest bench news, after receiving all of you great ideas here are a few combo's I came up with ...
(I did turquoise here, every other band, Michael suggested forest green for this style!)
( Leslie suggested I paint 6 slats white, the middle 6 turquoise, and the last 6 white, I took that idea and added 4 more stripes in the white. This is one of my favorites)
(same model in red, just for reference)
(this one I'm iffy about, same patter as before but with 2 more white bands)

Once again, What do you all  think?! I really am leaning towards the color turquoise as the accent color. Mainly because its my 'signature color' and as Elle Woods, (and my best friends Colleen) teach us "Never stray from your signature color" ...

Crosley Stack-O-Matic NIGHTMARE!

so It arrived today, and im pretty sure its BROKE! Iv tried contacting the ebay seller but he hasn't replied yet.. Basically what happens is the arm of the player never starts on the edge, and has YET to play a full record with out skipping or getting stuck... now most of you are thinking "Mick, give him a break records have little problems..." But I keep my records in IMMACULATE condition Polished clean and scratch free. I'm also 99.9% sure that this new play made a deep scratch on my F'ING HOKEY POKEY record... and if it wont play on my trust old record player I'm gonna be PISSED!

Does anyone out in blog world know anything about these Crosley's?  We don't have a local dealer, and this one came from Houston new in the box... I'm afraid even if the seller does send a replacement that it will arrive broke as well, and the WHOLE POINT of buying a new stack record player is so you don't have to mess with all this!

So that my dear friends is how Wendsday rolled out!

My Grade is a 100!

This is it! Drum roll please, the 100th post! To celebrate this momentous occasion I will be sharing with you some candid photos that serve as sparks that burn in my brain and  make the glowing light that is the beacon of Mick's...
(This swan is very much like one that appears in the movie "Pleasantville", I love it because for me life is just one big trip to the movies)
( I saved this fiberglass hanging lamp last weekend when the Cabin Owners club cleaned out the public pavilion)
(Nothing so fine as toast on a Sunday)
(This vase is one of my most prized possessions for a very special reason)
(At 7 years old, as an AVID watcher of Antiques Roadshow I just had to have a Tiffany Vase... however I don't think mine would bring quite as much at auction as the one on TV...)
( Iv always thought these were majestic)
(My college graduation gift, thanks Mom and Dad!)
(I'm all about the sun)

*  *  *
Now I'd like your advice,  Iv stripped the bench down to the metal, and my dad is going to be welding new legs for it, I'm strongly thinking of painting it White, and maybe having a few of the bands Turquoise?  Here's the problem unlike the matching chairs that have 7 bands (so you paint 3 of them a different color) This Bench has 18 iron bands So how do you think I should split the colored bands from the white? Also do you have any other Color ideas besides White and Turquoise? I'm open to suggestions! I will say "lemon yellow" and "Orange" fade REALLY fast in this Texas sun... As far as I could tell, this bench has been white, red, dark green, light green, and black! Based on the colors you see here...

What do you think?!  If I Find 1 more of those Montgomery Ward benches (the turquoise, red and yellow ones) I will provably paint it Green and I'll have a full show room set!

ROCKY!

I think I may sold my soul for this weekend but it was WORTH IT!
So dear readers, I promised I would post about Friday Nights "Rocky Horror Picture Show" on Saturday... then promptly left my computer at the house in town!  It was wonderful, We had 7 people show up. Now don't be thinking "awwww poor Mick" because 8 is our perfect party number at the Casablanca anymore than 10 and its a MAD HOUSE so 7 people was great!
For dinner we all cooked out on the fire pit, and then broke in the 'good china'

As it got closer to show time, everyone settled into their chairs and I made sure all our "props" were ready and the show kicked off around 9:00.
As the Ever famous "Time Warp" drew closer we were ready! (I played the part of the criminologist!)
(My friend Emily talks the long walk back to the castle in the rain.)
(LETS DO THE TIME-WARP AGAIN!!!)
(ITS JUST A JUMP TO THE LEFT <-----, AND THEN A STEP TO THE RIGHT ------->)
(BUT ITS THE PELVIC THRUST, IT REALLY DRIVES YOU INSANEEEEEEE!)

It was so much fun, everyone dancing and singing along with the movie. It was a pretty good night at the Flamingo Drive-In.
During intermission the girls made Smores!
Friends Jay, and Kaeli (Brad and Janet for the evening)  roast a marshmallow. After we had survived the HORROR that is Rocky, we cleaned up and called it a night! Yet another Successful event at the Flamingo!
